The Best New York 'Hoods in Lomographs

Armed with Lomography cameras like the LC-Wide, Lubitel 166+, and more, Time Out New York magazine scoured blocks, buildings, and boroughs to round up the best NYC neighborhoods to visit. See which areas and attractions caught their analogue attention in this 8-page spread!

True New Yorkers can navigate their concrete jungle by foot, subway, or yellow cab in their sleep—even if the city doesn’t get any. But outsiders need some kind of guide to come out of the Big Apple alive and kicking which Time Out New York has just done the analogue way!

For the magazines current September 20-26, 2012 issue, TONY enlisted the help of NYC photographers, gave them some Lomography cameras and film, and had them roam the city to snap their favorite hangout spots in analogue.

The Lomographic tour takes us to charmingly old-meets-new West Village, graffiti-lined Queens, cool and cultured Upper East Side, busy and bright Times Square, the quieter City Island of Bronx, and up-and-coming Bushwick in Brooklyn.

All photos in the feature were shot using Lomography cameras like the Lomo LC-A+, Lomo LC-Wide, Sprocket Rocket, SuperSampler, Lubitel 166+, and Diana F+.

The tourist-flocked sights take on a different dimension in film and look even more gritty or glamorous. Makes you wanna hop on a plane to the Empire State, doesn’t it? After all, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!
