Books Spilling Out the Window

Spanish artist Alicia Martín hit the books and came up with a brilliant idea for an installation art piece! Librarians and book collectors might cringe but it's a bookworm's dream! Find out what exactly was thrown out the window of one museum in The Hague and whether or not it was discarded because of controversy or if it was done intentionally.

Alicia Martín, from Madrid, Spain, assembled a cascading mountain of books at the Meermanno Museum in The Hague, The Netherlands.

One of the 14 paper artists featured in the International Papier Biennale 2012, Martin’s theme couldn’t have hit the nail on the head more accurately. The Papier Biennale 2012 runs from September 2 – November 25, 2012. Other artists participating in the Biennale include: Laura Behar, Peter Collingridge, Jérome Corgier, and Ros Rixon.

Martin has already accomplished 3 site-specific installations using the book-theme. Below are snaps of “Biografias” hosted at the Casa de America in Madrid in 2005.
