Hollywood actor and all-around thespian James Franco delivers a series of Cindy Sherman-inspired self-portraits as part of an exhibition in the CoSTUME NATIONAL store in SoHo in New York.
The series, entitled New Film Stills, is Franco’s recreation of Cindy Sherman’s well-known Untitled Film Stills series. It is part of the New No Dark Wave exhibition showcased in the CoSTUME NATIONAL store and gallery in SoHo from September 10 to October 10.
The exhibition’s name takes inspiration from CoSTUME NATIONAL’s New Wave/No Wave/Dark Wave peg for their Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection. Alongside Franco’s self-portraits, his short film 40 Minutes, an imagined recreation of the 40 minutes that was cut from the William Friedkin cult-classic Cruising, will be screened in the store’s changing rooms.
Other artists whose works are included in New No Dark Wave include Aaron Young, Tobias Wong, Frédéric Beigbeder, and Daniel Firman.
