Highlights: Swinging out with the Sub Cultures of Carnaby

To celebrate the last day of our “Sub-Cultures of Carnaby” exhibition at Lomography Gallery Store Soho we held a party which went down rather well. To find out how we got on, have a little read right here…

What: Sub Cultures of Carnaby closing Party
When: Thursday June 7th 6 – 9pm
Where: Lomography Gallery Store Soho

Lomography Gallery Store Soho sits just off of Carnaby St and is most famous for its Mod fashion boutiques in the 1960’s. It was THE place to be if you wanted to get the perfect Mod look and maybe get a glimpse of the Small Faces who used to visit the area.

We held an exhibition of photographs on behalf of the PYMCA (Photographic Youth Music Culture Archive) from the 1960’s and invited photographer Ted Polhemus along to talk about his career documenting the styles and sub cultures of that era. It attracted a whole bunch of people young and old who all wanted to ask lots of questions, some even bought his book.

We were also delighted to have The Low Suns play live, they managed to fill the whole store with some rather delightful dreamy harmonious tunes. The night wouldn’t have been complete without some deliciously cold Saint Beer and a few staff members falling over the Marshall amps.
