it´s a bit difficult as the quality of the collection may differ very much. as for example chosing "cars" could be anything related to cars but a good collection should have a maximum of shots so you might chose wisely what you want to have in the collection so from time to time you probably drop one to get another one in.
btw: what about giving user the possibility to make their own collection on their home. bookmarks would be enough already. i think it would be good in matters of actually searching for a special shot and it if it would be possible for others to see it would really give a good impression about the taste of the user. PLUS: there might be shots that are spread on many collections which could be tagged too. this is really the change/improvment i would like to see. it´s so hard or impossible to browse the "likes"-section for a special shot.

I like bloomchen's idea of haircuts/haircrimes! A collection of photos of cameras, what do you think about that? I also would like to see a collection of photos of people while working / artisans. In general, it would be great to have collections of themes that don't easily fit in one tag and so are harder to find in the photo section.

though "architecture" is probably too general, it could be split up, maybe modern architecture, industrial buildings, bridges, tv-towers, castles, ruins... stuff like that.

@sladuredka: any of them, i have too many ideas ;) well ok, i'd love to do modern or industrial architecture, or illuminated / external advertisement, or view from above, or animal masks and costumes.
oh, and i had more ideas, i just can't help it: birds in flight, typography (could be split up in photos of letters and double exposures with text), sunsets, wired (as in power lines and the like), driving, light-leaks and lighthouses

now that i think about it, i'd love to do the birds in flight one, i've got so many great photos for that in mind.
also: gumball machines, phone boxes (i think @knipsomat would love that!), escalators, lonely trees, balloons, rainy day, light trails, ferris wheels, what time is it (clocks and watches), light trails, boats, rainbows, dramatic skies...

@grazie I think the way it works now is the curator is actually a moderator who approves submissions to a collection. So you just wait for people to submit and you approve or reject. The curator doesn't actually go to people's homes to look for and pick photos to include in a collection. @sladuredka Is my understanding correct? I like the suggestion by @scorpie : "i'd love if we could also suggest photos by other lomographers for a collection instead of just submitting our own."

My suggestions are: collections of themes like happiness or love, or scary photos, or families, or kids at play, or pictures taken while sticking your hand out the window of a moving vehicle, or people at home (reading a book, eating breakfast, cooking, etc.) I think some of the current collections are too general/broad that they could grow too big with hundreds of photos in just a couple of weeks. Should there be a limit as suggested by @bloomchen ?

Buildings : Buildings, historical landmarks of the cities is a silent witness of the city development or event the whole country historical timeline. We can tell a lot from the photos of national landmarks. On on Buildings!

@zoe191 @grazie yes, that´s how it works. for the moustache collection i actually told some user to submit a special pic i thought that should be part of the collection.
@sladuredka: i really think a limit would be helpful. otherwise you could only search for a tag and get almost the same result. probably only one curator per section. i would be volunteer if you install a "nightshots" section.

@pan_dre, @sladuredka: I would love to help and curate one of the collections. Looking up other peoples' photos in the website is how I learn and improve my self as a photographer. Besides the more easy and obvious groups (cats, moustaches, etc) I think we should also have photos organized by themes that are not so obvious and help us train the eyes for the details and help us develop artistically. Photos that share in common unconventional compositions, explore different lightings, textures, etc. I think we should also explore alternative photography techniques, alteration of films, etc. On a different note, we should also have a section on "environmental portraits", along the lines of the work of Arnold Newman. Portraits of people in their everyday environment always make for a great photo! We should also have one on street art - very big scene here in London and I can think of a couple of great street art pictures from the community!

Hi @pan_dre @sladuredka ! a few things that you could consider to add to the collections:
- A "All collections" button should be in the main collections page together with "Most recently created Collections" and "Most popular Collections", otherwise new collections would push out the old ones which will be no longer visible.
- "Collections" should appear under the "Photos" main lomography menu with Random Photo, Stream, Tags, Cameras (...) Selected options. Otherwise they are hard to find.

and a light leak or lens flare collection would be fine,.. i think there are many lomographers who think that it is bad to have lens flare or light leaks.. but they are often very good :)))
