The big news is out – the Lomography Gallery Store Antwerp is coming! You must be extremely curious of the how, what, where and when of the store. With these series of magazine posts we will keep you up to date during the next few days.
The set-up of the LGS Antwerp is a gigantic project with a lot of work to be done. First we went looking for the most appropriate area for the Gallery Store. This was not hard to find so then we went looking for a nice building. We found it quicker than we would have thought and before we knew it we were signing a rental lease. The next step was calling our architects for a date in Antwerp.
Johannes of the Lomography HQ brought his rulers and pencils to the city of diamonds for the first measurements some weeks ago. He needed those measurements for the first drawings. While he was measuring the building, he discovered some funny facts:
- There is no straight wall in the whole store. Is that a Belgian thing?
- The drain near the front door does not lead to the sewerage but directly to the basement. Nice…. We will be picking cigarette ends from the camera stock.
- You can play funny games with mannequins you don’t need anymore. Ok, it’s a bit silly but we enjoyed ourselves…
After two days of measuring and drawing, the work was done and Johannes left for Vienna to discuss the layout of the store with the architecture team. That is a very challenging job every time because no building is the same. One thing is certain: there will be a unique LomoWall with thousands of photos from Antwerp.
Every post will contain a new clue about the location of the store to keep it exciting :) This is the first one:
