Is it flattering to have your photo taken while you're sleeping, disheveled, crammed into a subway with bodies in the same state as you? No. What about with your face pressed against the doors? Oh please, no! Miraculously, photographer Michael Wolf has captured the essence of the big city grind by photographing exactly that!
How graceful her side-swept hair falls, and is seen through the window with condensation from the crowded train compartment, where people on their daily commute feel anything but graceful. The essence of “My Blueberry Nights” transcends through all the photos in Wolf’s series with the telltale name: Tokyo Compression.
The German-American photographer has worked and traveled across Asia and Tokyo Compression is his only project done in Japan. His other projects range from tracing lost laundry in Hong Kong to composing mysterious portraitures using Google Street View.
Let your next adventure in a claustrophobe’s worst nightmare be one where you have Wolf’s images in mind!
