What You Missed At Cannes This Week

The 65th Cannes Film Festival opened this week and here's a quick rundown on what's been happening, from film premieres to red carpet looks to behind-the-scenes goings on! See the fest's recap galleries here.

Hours before opening, the Grand Théâtre Lumière gets last-minute touch-ups before welcoming the Cannes audience.

A bevy of stunning red carpet looks from Hollywood celebs like Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Jane Fonda, Lana del Rey, and Cannes jury member Diane Kruger.

Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson, a favourite to win the Palme d’ Or award, premieres along with other participating films. It stars young actors Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward with renown actors Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton.

Another favourite is Ashes by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (shot using the LomoKino!) which premieres at Cannes on May 24.

American rapper Kanye West is set to show his short film Cruel Summer at Cannes next week and promises “a fusion of short film and art installation” and an “immersive seven-screen experience.”

A source of off-screen entertainment is actors taking breaks all around the seaside French town, such as Sacha Baron Cohen, dressed as The Dictator, relaxing on a yacht with the alluring Elisabetta Canalis.
