PULP summer slam is hailed as one of the biggest and loudest annual rock events in the Philippines. Held during summer break, the said event attracts an average of 30,000 rock enthusiasts every year and it often lasts for at least 15 hours (it's a smaller version of Woodstock).
Not only local bands from all over the country are invited for this annual music festivity, but some foreign metal bands like Shadows Fall, Testament, Anthrax, Darkest Hour and Lamb of God have already performed from the previous years, too. This year’s summer slam, well-known metal acts like Bless the Fall, We Came as Romans, Periphery and Arch Enemy were added to the rosters.
DSLRs and other pro equipment cameras are prohibited inside the venue (even my friend’s GE X5 DSLR-look-alike was disallowed by the security). Good thing I brought three ever reliable cameras: the Sprocket Rocket, Fisheye 2 and (recently borrowed) Holga CFN_. Not only these cameras are allowed inside, but also kept me away from the greedy eyes of pickpockets who like to steal cellphones and digital cameras from the crowd (Yep, I was once a victim).
I didn’t get the chance to take close shots of the stage due to crowd density, but I still had some fun using these cameras from the day and night shooting. This is the first time I brought lomo cameras in this kind of event and I think that it will also be come in handy to bring them again next summer slam or other gigs that I might be attending to in the near future.
