Lomography

If you live in Lisbon or if you are visiting and you happen to see a tin can in the street with big letters saying "Use Me!" pick it up and take a few photos! Read on to know more about this pinhole photography project.

In honor of Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, Imagerie – a great photography studio situated in Lisbon that holds exhibitions and workshops – has started a really amazing project that consists of spreading pinhole photography throughout the city of Lisbon.

What they have done is leave various tin cans around Lisbon with a lovely label that says “I am not a tin can, I am a camera, use me!” for anyone to use and put back.

Imagerie explains the project in their own words as a means to “promote pinhole photography through the instigation of curiosity on Lisbon’s inhabitants and visitors. Throughout the city, it will be possible to find cans transformed into cameras that can be used by any curious passer-by. It’s a simple process – just follow the instructions described in the can, and leave it where it originally was. Users can also take the camera to Imagerie, and see a collective exhibition dedicated to pinhole photography and learn a bit more about this kind of photography. The goal is to create a collective work, on a city scale, and raise awareness to a different form of photography, with interesting and surprising results, with a different time frame, apart from the look and the immediacy of new technologies.”

They put up a map on their website were people can see where the cameras are, I can’t wait to go look for one when I get a day off next week!
