Tear the Clouds and Smoke Out

Who said clouds and smoke can't be rough around the edges? Raleigh-based artist and landscape architect Scott Hazard tears concentric shapes to form the illusions in photographs. See more of Hazard's work and show details below.

Explaining the rationale for the technique, the artist notes:

If the mind is a reducer, shuffling through an endless stream of stimulus to arrive at the most pertinent information, these pieces are reflections and extensions of this process. As the viewer’s gaze enters and traverses the layers of images in each construct, vision becomes tactile, lending an articulated viewing experience and a space for the eyes to linger in each image.

Scott Hazard works are on view at Gallery One of Artspace in Raleigh, North Carolina until April 28, 2012.
