Beauty Editor Rachel Adler Shoots the Lomo LC-A+ at NY Fashion Week

Rachel Adler, Beauty Director of Stylecaster’s beauty division, BeautyHigh.com, shot with the LC-A+ during New York Fashion Week 2012. Check out the madness that went on backstage, on the runway, at the after-parties and in the streets after the jump!

What do you do at Stylecaster/Beauty High?
I’m the Beauty Director, which means I handle everything from managing and writing the content on Beauty High’s site, running to industry events and booking our beauty editorials and how to shoots — always crazy but never boring!

What was your job during Fashion Week?
During Fashion Week I get to interview all of the artists backstage. It’s a different view point than most of the editors get, sitting front of house, but I love the backstage access. I work with a lot of the artists throughout the year on photo shoots so it’s also nice to be able to see familiar faces and catch up. But, I have to say my favorite part is watching (and talking to) the key artists about their looks that they’re creating, and how they’ve thought them up!

What shows did you go to? Which was your favorite and why?
This is always the hardest question to answer. Beauty High covers a lot of shows during NYFW, from Alexander Wang to Rebecca Minkoff. I think I averaged four shows a day this season, which was a very mellow season for me and I loved it — I also had no voice which was a bit of a problem, but you just always keep going, and end up making it through somehow! My favorite show makeup-wise was Prabal Gurung, the MAC Cosmetics team created this beautiful “Birds of Paradise”-inspired eye, it was incredible. Experience-wise, Alex Wang was really cool. None of us were expecting Gisele to walk in to the backstage area (and close the show) so to be back there and to see everyone’s surprise (and how gorgeous she was) was awesome.

What’s your favorite Lomography photo that you took during your FW experience? Why?
It had to have been Gisele- she’s gorgeous!

What did you think of shooting with the LC-A instead of taking digital shots? Any input on your Lomography experience would be great!
Shooting with the Lomo camera was a lot of fun. I typically take my own photos backstage with a digital camera and get instant gratification, but having a camera where I could play around with the flash colors and then have to actually develop the film was an entirely new experience and I loved how they turned out!
