Lomography Joins NightLife at the Academy of Science

Every Thursday night, music, creatures and cocktails come together for NightLife at the California Academy of Sciences. Guests ages 21 and up are free to explore the exhibits and aquarium displays without the normal crowd of children and toursits. Each week features a live band or DJ, and a unique theme – from salsa dancing to sustainable seafood, and beyond. Lomography recently participated in NightLife’s DarkRoom event, which focused on photography!

Lomography invaded the African Hall at the Academy of Science last Thursday night! Nestled in between the penguins and the monitor lizards was our own wild selection of cameras!

As the sole representative of film photography at the NightLife DarkRoom event, Lomography saw some huge crowds gathered around the tables! Guests were anxious to hold and play with our Sprocket Rocket, Spinner 360, Fisheye 2, LomoKino and Action Sampler, among others! They also waited eagerly to get their photo taken with our LC-A+ / Instax Back / Fritz the Blitz combination… What a beast!

Many of the patrons had never heard of or seen Lomographic cameras before, so the night was full of wide-eyes and excitement! Lomography’s San Francisco Gallery Store team went hoarse by the end of the night, but the work was worth it… What a fun event and wonderful evening! We’ve made some new friends and met some future Lomographers!

Our community is getting stronger, but we want to see you, too! Swing into our store on Sutter and Grant to see and hold our cameras in person! Or join us on a workshop sometime!
