Mark Rothko was a Russian-American painter known for his abstract expressionist paintings. His works are currently displayed at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. Learn more details about the exhibit after the break.
Mark Rothko is one of the painters whose style can be described as abstract expressionism. He himself didn’t like the idea of being placed into that category, but his works fit right in with the classification. Majority of his works from the 1950’s constitute of rectangles on canvas that seem to float. As a 50th anniversary celebration, his works are displayed for everyone to see. The ongoing exhibition consists of photographs, original paintings, letters, recordings, and exclusive interviews with some of the people who knew Rothko the best.
