Toronto-based photographer Michael Chrisman decided to mount his pinhole camera with über-sensitive photo paper onto the docks overlooking the Toronto skyline, for a stunning duration of 365 days! The “shutter” of his camera was open for 31,536,000 seconds!
Imagine that — most of us have so many failed pinhole experiments with exposures of just 1 day or 1 night even, yet this man made it through a whole year.
Chrisman started his experiment on the 1st of January 2011, knowing fully well how many things could go wrong, starting with overexposing and having a blank image, to the camera simply getting stolen since it was mounted in a public place.
Yet, his experiment succeeded! On the 1st of January 2012, he unmounted his pinhole camera and took out the picture you see above.
This definitely is a source for inspiration and motivation to all of us, don’t you think?
