The first Saturday workshop of 2012 was more than a role reversal Tom Hanks and Zoltar would be proud of. It was evidence the future is indeed analogue. Read on...
ComradeRudy gave up his typical back-row workshop seat for one a lot closer to the action- right next to the 10 Golden Rules. The topic of the student-turned-teacher’s workshop was the much underappreciated Diana Mini.
Most of the presentation’s example shots (aka Satomi’s good works) were replaced by ComradeRudy’s photos, many of which were actually taken during past workshops. The classroom portion went smoothly but served as a reminder that teaching a class is not as easy as it looks.
With all the attendees loaded with 35mm Agfa Vista film, the workshop attacked Santa Monica Boulevard. The 36 exposure rolls provided plenty of ammo as most chose to shoot in the half frame mode. The group got its usual share of stares from passersby curious about the interesting cameras in the hands of the Lomographers. But only the most observant were able to catch the dainty Diana Mini in action.
The workshop did leave one unanswered question- who is the next Lomography Community member to teach us what they’ve learned?
