Cindy Sherman Exhibit to Open at MoMA on February 26

Almost a year after it was announced, an exhibition of Cindy Sherman's works will finally open in the Museum of Modern Art. If you're a fan of her many guises, you might want to see all of them in this exhibit. Read the details after the jump!

By now, many are no longer strangers to American photographer Cindy Sherman, as her conceptual portraits have been frequently seen in art fairs, auctions, and exhibits. Nearly a year ago, The New York Times announced that Sherman’s works will be showcased in a “comprehensive retrospective” at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in February 2012.

MoMA has been collecting Sherman’s work for years. One of the most noted being its move to obtain 69 black and white film stills in 1995, for which MoMA reportedly paid $1 million. Therefore, it’s not at all surprising for the famous museum to host an exhibit of the photographer’s work.

Entitled “Cindy Sherman,” the exhibit is scheduled to open on February 26, 2012 and will showcase more than 180 photographs that Sherman had taken from the mid-1970s. It will be the first “retrospective” following the traveling exhibit organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in 1997. It is also worth noting that the exhibit is a thematic one, with rooms devoted to specific subjects explored by the photographer.

If you want to take a look at some of Sherman’s notable works, here are the details you need to take note of:
