Keith Haring was an artist from New York who first received his public recognition through his chalk drawings in his city’s subways. His works are mostly characterized by strong colours, active figures, and bold lines and oftentimes represented relevant messages of life and unity. He also promoted social activism and progressive commentary.

Keith Haring’s art is recognized internationally. He visited different countries, like Australia, France, Germany, and Netherlands, where he painted several wall murals. On February 16, 1990, he passed away at the age of 32 because of AIDS-related complications. However, he left a stirring legacy and his imagery became the visual language of the 20th Century.

To commemorate Keith Haring’s life, the Brooklyn Museum will be exhibiting his works in large-scale prints. The exhibit will begin on March 16th and will run until July 8th, 2012. For more details, you may visit Brooklyn Museum.
