Recap of Lesson 4 in the School of Lomography London: Lomography & Life

The School of Lomography, our final lesson – The Lubitel 166+. Testing this camera was last but definitely not least! We made our way from the Soho store to visit our sister store in East London, had a shoot around the graffiti ridden streets and learned how we can incorporate Lomography in our daily lives.

Having tried, tested and loved a wide range of our lovely Lomography cameras – the glass lens of the LC-A+, the vintage feel of the Diana F+, flips, doubles, red scaling, sprockets, rockets, colour, slide and black and white – we’ve really tried it all, except having total control (which of course is not a bad thing).

A helpful guide allows those who are not familiar with apertures and shutter speeds to be able to experiment to their hearts content – over and under exposure, capture that perfectly in focus, perfectly exposed shot, shoot from the hip, shoot from the floor. Our keen students started to see and started to learn what and how picture making works – and falling in love shooting from the hip.

We headed to Brick Lane to capture the buzzing Sunday afternoon on black and white retro rolli 400 – what a treat. Despite the rain – everyone got fully involved, shooting and exploring the wonders of the flea markets, portraits, trinkets, hipsters – we all know east London has it all. Including our other Lomography Store – so we thought it ride not to pop by, say hi, meet the lab and hand our films in ready for graduation.
