To help ease the transition of life without a father, Jackie Kennedy invited filmmaker Jonas Mekas and spent a few summers with the Kennedy, as well as the Radziwill families in Montauk during the 1970s. Jonas introduced the Kennedy children to cinema and taught them how to use 16mm cameras.
The images are currently being exhibited at the Agnès b. Galerie Boutique. These rare photos were taken from Jonas Mekas’ documentary film called This Side of Paradise which he shot during his stay with the Kennedys. It will have a special screening on October 13 at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City so if you’re around the area, be sure to check this out.
