LomoMatrix Perugia

After some big international cities such as Beijing, Berlin, São Paulo and London, we thought it was time for an Italian LomoMatrix!

During a sunny afternoon in May, a small group of photographers had an appointment in a wonderful garden in the middle of the historical center of Perugia. A LomoMatrix is a handcrafted analogue version of what we call “bullet time” in movie recording (when time is stopped and the video camera turns around; the name comes from the famous scenes in the movie The Matrix).

To build a LomoMatrix, you need a group of people in a wide circle, each one with a toy camera, Lomo or disposable camera, and one person in the middle. The person in the middle of the circle then does something and the people around the circle take photos at the same time. Single pictures from each camera are arranged and displayed consecutively to produce an orbiting viewpoint of an action frozen in time and space, but with a Lomo influence, different frames, with different colours and different sizes, because of the Lo-Fi cameras…and this is the style that we like.

This is what we did, I hope you like it; for us it was an amazing and funny experience!
