When you think of festivals, you think of Glastonbury, Burning Man, Coachella and... Lowlands? Yes people, Lowlands. A Dutch Festival that should not be underestimated. Read why.
A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise, although better known as Lowlands, is a Dutch annual festival held in August. It was first organised in 1967 and many famous artists have performed there ever since. The genres of artists vary from reggae to folk, from hiphop to dance. If you want to know some of the big names that have played there, have a look at Wikipedia.
I can imagine you’re not that impressed. Why would you travel all the way to Holland for a festival? I’ll tell you why. I’ve attended festivals all over the world and it’s rare to find one where everything is well organised. There’s lots of food stands with good food, facilities are well arranged, there’s no fighting or aggressive people, and most important of all, they really know how to build a line-up. During the day you can expect folk music, uplifting bands and relaxed reggae, but when the night falls, the whole event transforms into an amazing dance scene with drum ‘n bass, electro… anything you can think of. And that’s not even all. There’s comedy, politics, art, a cinema, and the premises themselves are nicely decorated with art pieces. And most importantly, there’s amazing people who are only there to have a good time and to share it with you. Honestly, what more could you ask for?
