The launch of the La Sardina family was plenty enough reason for the very first lomoparty of Lomography The Netherlands! The flashmob, many dressed up lomographers, haring and lots of lomo pictures made this nautic party a big blast. Check out the review and the big photo gallery.
After a week of teasers and tips the announcement of our newest 35mm heros – the La Sardina camera’s was finnaly there! The announcement of this zeewaardige lanceringsfeestje made it pretty obvious that these new fishies had something to do with the fish market theme. That’s why all flashmobbers were asked to come over to Westermarkt in Amsterdam dressed up in real fish market style.
At 6pm a big group of wicked dressed up lomographers gathered around the Westermarkt. With sardinecans and Lomography cameras stand by, the group easily got the attention of all people passing by. You should have seen their surprised faces – it was hilarious. We got a few very nice comments and after 30 minutes of crazynes on the market the captains, pirates and scuba divers made their moves to the Pulitzer Hotel. Because on the canal in front of this hotel a big party boat was waiting to pick up the group of people for a true lomocruise on the Amsterdam canals. After the captain mentioned “all aboard” we left the dock and set sail for a nice 3 hour cruise.
The party on board was a blast. Everyone had a very good time. The atmosphere was great and each lomographer happily grabbed their chance to check out the new 35mm heros. The catering served some nice fresh fish, delicious bitterballen and of course enough booze to keep the party going.
After a few hours the moment was there to announce the winner of the costume-contest. It was a though decisions for the judges since each party member was maximum dessed up. Pirates, captains with fishes in waterbags and scuba divers were all runnning for the grand prize – a La Sardina camera. But at the end the winner was Niels de Prest aka kamiraze who came all the way from Veghel (south of the Netherlands) and was fully dressed up like captain iglo. He deserved to be the grand prize winner and was the lucky lomographer who could take one of these fresh fishes back home.
Everyone who attended to this party – thanks! We hope you also had a great time like we had. See you soon at the opening of the official Lomography Gallery Store in Amsterdam. Another good reason for a real lomoparty – so be there!
