The London Hit List - Winners Announcement

Phew, you guys have been busy! We gave you a hit list of 25 London things to shoot, and a very strict set of rules, and between you you managed to pin down 76 LomoLocations! Here we reveal who was the sharpest shooter....

The London Hit List was no ordinary challenge. We gave you a list of 25 things found in London, and you had to go out, shoot, and submit brand new LomoLocations for as many of them as you could manage, with rewards for those who ticked off the most on the list.

There were strict rules – these had to be newly submitted locations, within a sharp timeframe, and they had to be tagged with ‘LCG’ and ‘hitlist’ or ‘hit list’. Nothing else would do, but this didn’t put you guys off! We had so many submissions that not all of them have been published just yet, but none the less we can see everything that you’ve submitted, so keep an eye out for all the brilliant LomoLocations yet to appear on the site!
So, without further ado, onto the results……

kitde ran away with the top prize of a brand new LC-A+, well deserved as she submitted a whopping 25 articles, ticking off absolutely everything on the list!

Everyone who submitted at least ten target LomoLocations wins a box of Lomography Colour Negative 400 35mm film, a keychain, and ten bonus piggy points, they are….

Kitde 25 targets
cheese 19 targets
blondielocks 16 targets

and for those who submitted less than ten target LomoLocations, we thank you with five piggy points…
kylewis 6 targets
mblair23 2 targets
ungrumpy 1 target
toyam 3 targets
acidgirl target
sandkorn 3 targets

Thankyou to everyone who took part in this super challenging challenge!

@neja were they submitted within the timeframe (new articles), and tagged lcg hitlist? When we search through the articles with this tag we don't find any by you. Could you tell us the titles if some of your submitted articles so we can check? Also, regarding your comment about cheese, as we said in this article there have been so many brilliant posts the publishing team are still working their way through them, but they have all been submitted within the deadline and tagged

    Woohoo! Thanks!

@neja I submitted a bunch; they've just not been published (yet). Totally understandable as kitde's articles on the same locations have only just been published recently.

Also, well done kitde! I think you also managed to find a sprocket rocket coupon so this must be a good week for you =p

I think some rechecking of the amount of articles submitted would be a good thing! I know I did more and have a record of them but heh who gives t*** any more, these things never turn out as you expect, always lots of hard work eh!

Hey all, we have access to see all articles submitted, published or not. We searched through all of the articles submitted in the timeframe, which were tagged lcg hitlist or lcg hit list. We then made a big spreadsheet with all of your articles grouped by username and title. I'm happy to send you your own titles so you can check if anything is missing? However if the articles were past deadline or not tagged then they don't count for the competition. We have to be strict or it wouldn't be fair on anyone else!

Also, then last City Guide was published for the Congress of 2007, there were about 7 or 10 of my locations in there, and somehow on all of them my lomo name and the link to my lomo home were printed very badly, so you can't see them at all. so my articles were anonymous. It was really annoying.
I hope I will not be disappointed this time.

p.s. don't get me wrong, I am happy for the winner, and I can live without LCA, but the quality of the locations is very low in my opinion. some don't even have an address, and there is almost zero useful information. In the past I was asked to increase the amount of text for some of my Spanish locations, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone here.

I would just like to add that all my locations were also submitted 'in time' I take it that the 'HIT LIST' locations and the LCG locations will all be submitted for review to the book but that the only reason they had HIT LIST on them was to also take part in the 'win an LCA competition' ?!

@kylewis yes indeed, all locations will be considered for the book, this extra competition was a way of generating extra content, and giving you guys the chance to win an lc-a+.
@neja did you tag them with hitlist as well as lcg?

I already replied to this question- yes, I did tag most of them, forgot to tag only few. go to my articles- there are already 30 or so written especially for LCG

I still don't get it- winner's locations have almost zero text and no useful information or addresses. I don't see how it is useful for a city guide. seems that someone is just being awarded for the number 25.

    @neja:
i didnt read the actual submission guidelines of the original rumble, but in the current announcement there is the following line:
"There were strict rules – these had to be newly submitted locations, within a sharp timeframe, and they had to be tagged with ‘LCG’ and ‘hitlist’ or ‘hit list’."

after reading your tower bridge after dusk, the queen elizabeth hall and plover way articles, I see that you only used the tag "LSG". You did not use "hitlist".
From the above mentioned rules it seems you'd have to use BOTH tags to qualify.

I think it's very interesting that one of my crappest locations has just gone up, now I admit the pics are nothing special in fact I didn't really want some of them to be, it added to the grungy anti chicken theme but the reason I am commenting here is that checking the tags I see that 'List' must have got wiped off my tags for some reason and I just have the word 'HIT' a bit strange and obviously this will not show up on a search. It does make me wonder how many others have miss hit a key and removed an odd letter or two and so have been disqualified.
Anyway despite the crap nature of this I still have all the address details just in case some loon may want to visit!!

A reminder to everyone - ALL articles tagged with LCG will be considered for the London City Guide. This competition was just one element of our activities to gather content.
Please also remember that this is a friendly and supportive community. We are more than happy to help out with your questions about competition rules and outcomes, but please do not make other people feel bad about their own submissions

I find this really unfair. If you are letting people out of the competition (people that worked a lot) because of a missing tag, how do you accept locations without address ("- Tell us the exact address where it’s located and how to get there")? Rules should be for everyone.
