In Tokyo Shibuya, there are still some aftershocks happening and we are afraid of radioactivity, but we are all fine.
Thank you so much for the warm messages from lomographers in all over the world. We are happy to see your great photos in the Help Japan – A Hug Goes a Long Way competition.
Yesterday the Japanese government announced Tokyo might have huge blackouts. If it happens, the metro will be shut down. Now, Tokyo citizens are struggling to save electricity to avoid blackouts. So many stores turned off their neon billboards, as did the Lomography Gallery Store.
Around the Gallery Store neighborhood, many stores are closed because of the blackouts, but some stores are open for short periods of time. Compared to the time before disaster, Shibuya is getting darker because stores avoid using electricity. Still some people hang around, but not as many people as before the disasters.
We are gradually returning to our normal situation.
We are praying for those who have difficult times these days and we hope everyone will have peaceful days soon.

First of all, out thoughts are with the people who have suffered damage from the major earthquake.
We are praying for you in this time of loss.
Lomography Japan truly believes that we can recover someday in the near future. A day when everyone in Japan can take pictures with big smiles will come again very soon.
Today was the first day I could bring my favorite Lomo LC-A with me after the huge earthquake. There is no rice, bread, noodles, etc available at supermarkets or convenience stores, but smiles are coming back on people’s faces. A restaurant that usually opens only for dinner time opened for lunch to sell bread to their neighbors.
At the same time, there are not so many people walking around town and almost all stores and restaurants are saving on electricity, so it’s a little bit darker than usual. The government and electric power company have decided to implement a rolling blackout everyday. We are still experiencing frequent aftershocks, but are lucky to be able to eat hot meals everyday in Tokyo.
We will continue our efforts toward recovery! Meanwhile we will open Lomography Gallery Store Tokyo. We want our store to become a place where everyone can relax, recover, and come together. Thanks again for your concern and for nice words.
