The clock is ticking close to midnight, actually some of you are already celebrating the New Year, and in Parsons, Kansas, the last roll of Kodachrome is being developed...

We’ve been reporting the end of the Kodachrome Era for quite some time, and this is it… Dwayne’s Photo, the last certified Kodachrome processing facility in the world, will be processing their last roll of film today. Check out this clip from CBS News Sunday Morning featuring the great classic.

Although some good things must come to an end, Lomography is here to stay! So tonight, when you cheer this new year’s, cheer to film and analogue photography! Remember the Future is Analogue!

This is a sad moment. A well focused, well exposed Kodachrome 25 35mm slide equals at least 80 megapixels of information, and nothing ever came close for colour depth or reciprocity flatness. It was unforgiving stuff, but it was the best. I hope someone like Fotochemica will pick up the formula, but it's not likely.

We always want something better, thus to leave something which is already excellent behind. It's a tragedy of human behavior....

The only real regret I have is never having the chance to shot with Kodachrome. The film I heard is so amazingly magical flying away while before I could even have a chance to touch the bright yellow box. This is a real lost for many young and old photographers out in the world!

I don't understand that Kodak say that there is little demand, but what about the massive Lomography community? :( Lomography just need to make their own version! :D

This is sad... I can't believe so many amazing photos were captured with Kodachrome and there will no longer be any available...

Too sad that there is no place for this in the modern world...
Maybe analogue is too slow for this world, which is speeding up in an exponential way...
Just let us hope that there will be a counter-movement, cause i don't like to hurry.
And keep up analogue photography ! Hope there will be another movement soon, which writes letters and no e-mails.
You should try ! Nothing feels as good as doing a stamp on a self-written letter for someone you like. For example the girl two doors away, which you liked but never were able to ask for a date. Much better than facebook-stalking her ;)

Sadly for the brilliance of Kodachrome its development process was convoluted and as enviromentally friendly as going out and pour petrol over polar bears. I respect what Kodachrome has done but we need to make sure we shoot whats still available to keep it on the market.
