This title might be a bit confusing at first, but we'll explain it in the article. But, in short, there's a gallery of 100 great photos, which is the main message.
So where did these photos come from? We love numbers and wanted to show you some popular photos. But instead of taking the ones with the most comments and likes we tried a different approach. Because if someone has uploaded a lot of photos, chances are this user has a lot of comments and likes. Additionally, we wanted to show only one photo for each user (and some of you power users have plenty of great photos within the most popular photos section). So we took the amount of photos into account – let’s say someone has received 100 comments on 10 photos while someone else has received 100 comments on 1,000 photos: then the first user has more comments per photo on average, which we favored. This calculation method brought us another problem: the relationship between comments and likes. Right now there are around 150,000 photo comments and 2,000,000 likes – so, for every 13 likes there is one comment. So, this is the formula we based our query on: we took everyone who has uploaded at least 36 photos (one roll), sorted the list by comments/likes (with every comment counting for 13 likes), picked the top 100 and for each of these took the most popular photo.

@kylethefrench: yes, this is the downside – people who upload so many (great) photos have a bit of a disadvantage here… but we are thinking of ways to present great photos for different user groups, newcomers, heavy uploaders, veterans, … :)

As a scientist (my ass) I just love this calculation ! It's like when you calculate concentration: If the volume increases, the concentration decreases if you have the same amount of molecules. So it's a true calculation of quality. Big uploaders (including my silly ass) are diluting the quality in a too large volume ! Ahahaha ! I really love this ! Again again again !!! : )

And the calculation is fair, it's always good to see "new" pictures and users! :)) And i agree with @stouf, we (including me of course, or @mephisto19 and @kylethefrench) the big uploaders are diluting... sometimes "less is more"!! But I can't stop shooting, scanning and uploading... I'm too addicted.... ;)))
