Publish Your Year.. in Square!

Lomography and Square Magazine are teaming up to give you an exciting opportunity to be published online in a Special Issue and also in their début hard copy book due to be released on 15th December. Those chosen will receive a free copy of this book as well as a beautiful Diana Mini.

Square Magazine is dedicated solely to the square format. Their goal is to spread the word. To be a beacon of hope for millions of people lost in a rectangular universe in which they don’t quite fit. OK, that sounded a bit pompous, but it is also true! They are a quarterly, bilingual French and English publication that accepts work submissions and has now teamed up with Lomography!

Starting today, 11th October Square Magazine is accepting your submission to the special a special edition of the online magazine called “A Year in Square”.

What is the “A Year in Square” edition?

Glad you asked! “A Year in Square” will take a look back at the year 2010 featuring only square format photos through the lens of 8 different photographers. This edition will be featured online in Square Magazine in a Special Issue mid November and also in the Lomography Analogue Lifestyle Section of the Magazine as well for all the community to see! It does not stop there though. The eight winners’ photos and small slice of memories from 2010 will also go to print in the first ever hard copy book published by Square, plus you will earn yourself one Diana Mini Camera to boot!

Submission Guidelines:

You will need to include in your submission 10 to 15 photos and a short text to make up a retrospective of your year in 2010. Be it the good things, or those things which are a bit less good. Anything significant that happened in the year that passed and also what your hopes are for the New Year.

Need some inspiration?

Have a look in the Lifestyle Section to see two pieces featured in the first edition of Square Magazine by Deborah Parkin & Cécile Schuhmann. Also stop by issues 1.1 and 1.2 in Square Magazine itself to see all the amazing featured works.

Deborah Parkin: Childhood Narratives
Cécile Schuhmann: Low-fi Superheroes

You can also get to know one of the founding members of Square Magazine, in this week’s LomoAmigo interview with Christophe Dillinger to find out about his passion for the square format and more on what the magazine is looking to publish in a “Year in Square”.
