Canals, Cruises & Camden: A Lomowalk with James Butler

First we had a graffiti walk and next a cemetery crawl but this month was all about cruisin' down to Camden. Avid analogue fan and fellow Lomographer James Butler, hosted this lomo walk with 26 participants last Saturday... we all had a cracking good time!

In Mr Butler’s words:

Despite the predicted thunderstorms 26 brave souls gathered at the LGS London, ready to be armed by Liana with film and cameras. A short tube ride and we were in the heart of Camden. But instead of diving straight into the market we veered off along the canal tow path, taking in the futuristic Grand Union Walk and the former sites of Banksy artwork (whitewashed in the preceeding week, much to everyones disappointment). We then skirted the market, looking at interesting side streets, railway arches, graffiti and the multicoloured Hartland Road.

Finally we hit the market just in time for some sunshine and lunch. We then jumped on a canal boat that took a leisurely chug up to Little Venice, past houseboats, mansions and the London Zoo. The Maida Hill tunnel was lit up like chucking out time at China Whites with all the flashes going off…

Back on dry land we shot portraits and spinner shots in the bright orange Porteus Road Underpass, before exploring the canal/urban environment of Paddington Basin, finally beaten by time and the weather whilst admiring the funnels of the Marks and Spencers building!

A final stop to admire Paddington’s magnificent arches and it was back to the store. Hopefully everyone got to see at least part of London that was new to them, and showed however much you think you know London, there’s always a new corner to discover and capture on film.

Check out some shots!
