My LomoStory by Avariel

I saw a Lomowall at the Esplanade about 8 years and was intrigued but never took the plunge - until recently.

One fine day – actually I don’t remember what kind of day it was – I was walking towards the Esplanade, the arts centre here in Singapore when I saw a huge Lomowall on the wall of the passage way. And I was intriged and thought “That is the coolest thing – EVER.” So, I decided there and then that Lomography was cool and awesome and filed it under the mental “To-do list for my Life”.

That was back in 2002 or 2003 – see, it’s been that long ago I don’t remember the details.

However, life happened. I went to Australia for studies. Lived life. Got homesick. Came back.

In September of 2009, I saw a review for the Diana Mini in the newspaper and that fired up that dormant love of Lomography in me. So I did some research online and a few days later, I did a very very impulsive thing – I went out and bought the Diana F+. And seriously fell in love with Lomography at that moment.

A few days later, I got the photos back from my first roll with the Diana F+ and only 3 photos were passable. I was dissapointed but I loaded another roll and continued shooting. The Diana Mini came home to me a few weeks later. And in November, I treated myself to the Lomo LC-A+. And went around telling people it was my birthday present to myself. But the LC-A+ was not the last camera I would acquire in 2009.

In December, the family and I were in Hong Kong for the annual family trip. And we stopped by the Lomography store – actually, I insisted. And my sister decided to get me the Actionsampler as a Christmas and birthday present. Well, she said that it was cute.

Now, five months and four cameras and countless rolls of film later, I’m happily addicted to Lomography. My cameras are my best friends. And I can forget to bring my cell phone out but remember my camera – actually I just did that today.
