Winter can be quite a drag, at least in some parts of the globe, and even though some might say it’s not the best weather for shooting (pictures), I found out you can still squeeze something out of the cold!
At first I was surprised by the large amounts of snow that fell on the Netherlands this year, and went out with a camera on every occasion. Soon I realized that shooting in the winter is not like shooting in the summer. Duh. With no bright sunlight contrast goes down and colors are less enthusiastic to jump out and do their thing.
I must say I took advantage of every sunny moment this winter, grabbing a few cameras and running out (the dogs were quite happy with that).
And then, there is black and white film! great for the snowy season, when everything is black and white anyway…
Well, I must say I enjoyed my first Lomo winter. Going almost everyday on a winter photo-safari definitely made it even more fun and go by much quicker. And now, spring is coming! This year I’ll praise the sun even more than usually…
