A Lomography Splitzer Project of satomi, anarchy and mephisto19. Check out a transcribed version of their e-meeting as well as a set of mindblowing galleries sure to get stuck in your favourites list!

We decided to chat about that project, so here is the shortend version of our dialogue ;) Enjoy reading! And enjoy the photos!!!

mephisto19 says:
well, satomi, the most funny thing about this project for me is, the title
ménage à trois and that you didn’t know the meaning
Satomi says:
it started as misunderstanding
Dr. Dahlström says:
haha
Satomi says:
shut up, stephan
and andreas
mephisto19 says:
hahahahaha evillaughing
Satomi says:
evil is my middle name honey
Dr. Dahlström says:
what i want to know is what you thought it meant, satomi?
Satomi says:
didn’t really have idea.
but sounded good because it was in French
mephisto19 says:
it is french… so it always sounds good
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah!
agreed!
Satomi says:
yep. french make anything sounds magical
Dr. Dahlström says:
=)
so about the misunderstanding…
Satomi says:
and when I found out what it meant, I thought it was a perfect name for our project!
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah it was =)
mephisto19 says:
it is!!!
what is really good to see is that it is unpredictable… we planed it all, marking the film, who will shoot what part, but you never know. sometimes it is working incredibly well, sometimes not
what was funny to see is that the extra-roll was the fastest and – in my eyes- the one with the best results
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, i was thinking the exact same thing
mephisto19 says:
maybe because it was “free”, but i don’t know

Dr. Dahlström says:
mmmm
Satomi says:
yep
that surprise roll came out really good!!
Dr. Dahlström says:
it’s my favorite
mephisto19 says:
i do not know if it was just the randomness that made these shots so good or just the thing, that they perfectly match and on all shots are all three of us…
what a pitty that my lc-a had troubles during one film
Satomi says:
yeah, we even got 3 shots that matches really well in that roll
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, that was too bad
Satomi says:
but I still liked that roll, too
Dr. Dahlström says:
mmmm, it was nice…
Satomi says:
and mixed time roll was really good, too
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah
mephisto19 says:
ja…. i love the entire project and some shots are perfect samples on how the splitzer works
Satomi says:
exactly
mephisto19 says:
maybe we should make an exhibition?
Satomi says:
I thought about that, too
mephisto19 says:
in lomo gallery stores?
Satomi says:
L.A.?
hehe
Dr. Dahlström says:
of course!
and Berlin? Stephan?
Satomi says:
yeah!
mephisto19 says:
we could at least ask….. or let them read it in our blog-post and get many supports from other lomographers saying we should do it and lsi should make it
n.y.c.?
Satomi says:
andreas is going to new york
Dr. Dahlström says:
oh yeah!
mephisto19 says:
or vienna?
so let’s get together the basic ideas of the ménage-project
Satomi says:
hahaha it’s getting big!
mephisto19 says:
what was our plan? can we add the plan?
Satomi says:
plan?

mephisto19 says:
your illustration, satomi, that was a plan, no?
Dr. Dahlström says:
it was a misunderstanding? to begin with…
mephisto19 says:
what misunderstanding?
Satomi says:
thanks to stephan and my bad english conversation skill
Dr. Dahlström says:
please explain
Satomi says:
stephan was talking about a shot he took of you, andreas, with a splitzer
Dr. Dahlström says:
the monster at the beach
Satomi says:
he called it “self-eating sneak splitzer double”
or something like that
Dr. Dahlström says:
ah yeah
snake
Satomi says:
I had no freakin’ idea what he was talking about, but I thought (somehow) he was doing a splitzer double with andreas
so I was like “let me in!!!”. then he told me he had no project going with andreas at the time
mephisto19 says:
i was looking for the link here it is:

Photo by mephisto19

Satomi says:
but sounded like a good idea
so that’s how it all happened
I’m glad we had a misunderstanding
mephisto19 says:
me too
Dr. Dahlström says:
and suddenly i was part of a splitzer project without knowing it
Satomi says:
yeah, andreas was automatically in it, because you were in the part of our misunderstanding
mephisto19 says:
and i just said “okay” like i say to nearly every double
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, we all do
Satomi says:
and we love you
mephisto19 says:
well that was a good start

Satomi says:
that was funny stephan even started talking to you (andreas) about the projects even before we told you what we are doing
Dr. Dahlström says:
haha, yeah
Satomi says:
you must have been surprised to see so many emails from us all of a sudden, talking about something you hadn’t agreed to do yet
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, suddenly i had my inbox full of these plans…
Satomi says:
hahaha
mephisto19 says:
but we HAVE TO mention the fantastic four-splitzer-project
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, that project was fantastic
Satomi says:
I even told stephan to hold on till you actually agree to do this
but he didn’t. stephan is impatient
mephisto19 says:
i am! when it is about good ideas and about taking photos… that’s why i started the extra-roll
Satomi says:
fantastic four
mephisto19 says:
ja… that is the mother of splitzer-projects
Satomi says:
hahaha, yeah, the extra roll
stephan told me not to tell andreas he was sending it to you
mephisto19 says:
i could not resist to shoot it
Satomi says:
oh, we make a good team
mephisto19 says:
it is funny taking to both of you, because one thing leads to another

Dr. Dahlström says:
any surprises during the project?
Satomi says:
lets see…
mephisto19 says:
so we are going to add your illustration, satomi, the link to the fantastic four, the link to my splitzer-shot of andreas and…?
Dr. Dahlström says::
yeah
Satomi says::
oh, yeah, fantastic four
mephisto19 says::
we have to link it! that was kind of the basic idea to do a swap with splitzer
Dr. Dahlström says::
yes! it’s the old testament
Satomi says::
we do have a shot of jesus, too in our random roll
Dr. Dahlström says::
yeah, that is one of the best
Satomi says::
funny one, too
mephisto19 says::
so the original plan was to make three rolls, each one starting one film
Dr. Dahlström says::
and with different themes
mephisto19 says::
so that each one can be in each part of the photo
Dr. Dahlström says::
yeah, and still things were a bit uncertain: how to turn the splitzer, haha
Satomi says::
oh, yeah, totally forgot about that! I think I confused everyone

Dr. Dahlström says::
suddenly mass psychosis half-way into the project
mephisto19 says::
you did confuse everyone with your logic
Satomi says::
but it was a valid question, as andreas said, I remember well
mephisto19 says::
but that was because of your experience with the writing on your diana shots
Satomi says::
I have memory of elephant
mephisto19 says::
so you are an evil elefant
Dr. Dahlström says::
good thing we sorted it out
Satomi says::
practically yes. our mixed time roll could have been a mess if we didn’t
mephisto19 says:
and what a pitty the idea of the selfportrait-first-shot did not work
Dr. Dahlström says:
oh yeah
Satomi says:
i know
mephisto19 says:
imagine us three
Satomi says:
good try, though
Dr. Dahlström says:
we did get two shots with me and satomi
Satomi says:
would’ve been nice to have at least 1 shot of us three!
Dr. Dahlström says:
the last one was really freaky
Satomi says:
oh, yeah. freaky ones! both of them! thanks to andreas
Dr. Dahlström says:
and the first… hahah
mephisto19 says:

Photo by anarchy

Dr. Dahlström says:
siamese twins…
mephisto19 says:
siamese dreams. smashing pumpkins great album. two of my fav songs on it:

and

oh and have you seen i used the splitzer and the krab together in the bw-roll

Dr. Dahlström says:

yeah, those were really nice
Satomi says:
and I like the one where andreas and I took a shot at a park, and stephan shot a sign for parking lot, but in the shot, it was cut out to be just park
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, excellent!
Satomi says:
coincidences
I love
mephisto19 says:
oh ja the park shot is incredible

sometimes it just works

you know what to shoot, although you have no idea what is on the film
and if we look at the new function on our lomohomes, the one with the most popular photos, we can find lots of the ménage-shots there
Satomi says:
yeah!
mephisto19 says:
and they made it to the most popular photo section on the front page
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, we owned that page when satomi published the first roll, 38 out of 40 photos
mephisto19 says:
oh, there is one photo that comes directly to my mind when i think about that project:
Satomi says:
which one?
mephisto19 says::

Satomi says:

oh, yeah, it’s my favorite of them all! I double exposed my part in the second one. I’m glad it worked well
mephisto19 says:
it worked very well
Satomi says:
I always like doing double exposures on flower and pond
mephisto19 says:
can you two please save the chat, too?
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, i will
Satomi says:
of course. this was too funny to lost
mephisto19 says:
so thanks a lot for that funny dialogue
Dr. Dahlström says:
yeah, it was a pleasure
Satomi says:
it was.
Dr. Dahlström says:
a glimpse into our madness
Satomi says:
I think everyone is gonna think we are nuts
mephisto19 says:
that is okay for me
Dr. Dahlström says:
just save the conversation
Satomi says:
kisses!

    Fantastic work you 3!! And indeed, menage a trois in french means something different, but in a way, the mixing of your 3 shots on the films is a kind of lomographic menage a trois... :)))
    And thanks for mentioning the fantastic 4 project! :)))

    Wow this is fantastic! A lot of these are so amazing! I love 18, 19, 20, 30, 31, 32 from the top set. 3, 4, 7, 11, 12, 13, 18 and 20 from the middle set. 3, 9, 23, 29 and 31 from the bottom set.

    I really love the use of the splitzer, it is much nicer than standard doubles and the photos take on the form of a Dada montage!
