Well, I told every one of my friends and family that I would spend a couple of months in Finland. But honestly, I sent a little friend as a substitute.
The little mole only knew a few things about Finland before he left for his new adventures in the far north. He only heard that the Finns eat nothing but licorice and that the winter takes almost the whole year. At the end of his travels, he knew that this was not the whole truth and he returned with many impressions – not only from Finland, but also from Tallinn and Saint Petersburg.
Of course, the little mole visited the typical sights of Helsinki, such as the sea fortress Suomenlinna, the Sibelius Monument and the Seurasaari open air museum. And of course, he also traveled to Lapland and spent all of the evenings in the sauna. In Saint Petersburg, he enjoyed the numerous historic buildings, but also had a bit too much vodka so that some of his memories are quite fuzzy.
During his adventures the little mole also had met some nice guys, like the Finnish national ice hockey team, the Christmas goat “joulupukki”, the naughty seagulls at the Baltic Herring Market in Helsinki and his almost-twins – the Matroschka dolls.
When the little mole returned, he noticed that he has gained some weight. Did he eat too much of the Finnish pastries? But korvapuusti, pulla and piirakka were so delicious so that the little fellow could not resist.
