Double exposures featuring images from Malaysia and the Philippines by ripsta and zoe191
This is a doubles project featuring images from Malaysia and the Philippines. I was happy that ripsta from Malaysia contacted me about doing a doubles project. He had forgotten what was in the rolls of film he sent but that was fine with me. He just told me to shoot anything. We were both eager to be surprised.
I decided to shoot in a place that I had never been to before. I went on a road trip with friends to San Pablo, Laguna, about a 2-hour drive from Manila in the Philippines. Most of my images were taken from Kusina Salud where my friends and I had lunch. Kusina Salud is a restaurant that serves delicious Filipino food. The restaurant has mostly Filipino themed interior decor (the typical capiz window panel, woven fabrics from various provinces, a book about our former president Corazon Aquino) and some other stuff (flour sacks made into shopping tote bags, t-shirts and bead necklaces for sale, Filipino artworks). A few of the images (friends playing the piano, table with coffee cups) were taken from sculptor Carlitos Ortega’s home and workshop where we had native desserts and some rice coffee (it’s like coffee but is actually made from rice). The flag in the photos is the flag of the Philippines.
The images from Malaysia are mostly random shots, some in the town where ripsta lives, some in a car drift show at Stadium Indera Mulia at Ipoh, Perak, some shots of local food (Cendol stall), some in a camera shop, and some in a museum (the picture with the rhino). And there are photos of ourselves too. One is a pic of ripsta in a work seminar. A few are mirror shots of me. We love seeing the images blend and fit together.
The film is Kodak Ektachrome E200. Ripsta used his LOMO LC-A and I used my LC-A. This successful project makes us want to do more doubles. We hope you like our photos, too. This successful project makes us want to do more doubles. We hope you like our photos, too.

My favorites are 11, 15, 17, 25... ripsta's other roll of film is still in my camera. I hope it will be a nice doubles set too.
