During 2 hours the centre of Santiago received a rain of flying postcards to celebrate the national day of photography!
National Day of Photography – Chile 2009
People where sitting in the park, walking to their office, waiting for the bus. It was another normal day in Santiago. Suddenly a strange noise filled the air. People look at the sky and from a helicopter thousands of postcards were flying down. It was a photographic attack to normal public. People started to run behind this postcards, cross the streets, stopped the traffic, jump over each other. After that, people started the second part… the postcard exchange. Kids, policemen, workers, cyclist, everyone exchanged their double postcards for some version they didn’t have… it was the flying postcard fever!!!
This initiative was possible thanks to the ministry of culture of Chile who invited this embassy and other important photographers and the photographic community to be part of this project. We had 3 of the 50 models of postcards with pictures of local lomographers: Claudia Pentske, Mariano Perez and Alvaro Cipagauta!
Thanks also to Felipe García for taking the photo of the helicopter.

That's pretty cool. I can't believe they dropped them out of a helicopter.

Oh crap! Apparently I lost this event for a couple of days! I was in Santiago until last saturday... :-( In fact it was at Santiago Lomo Store that I bough my (first lomo camera) Diana F+ Snowcat. By the way, fantastic people at the store! Strongly recommend!
