The debut of the Lomography Embassy Russia at the Picnic Afisha in Moscow, with a Lomowall of fifty meter length.
Afisha Picnic
Afisha Picnic is the biggest open-air summer festival in Moscow. It is hold annualy in Kolomenskoe (a huge park situated in the southern part of Moscow) and attracts about 50,000 people every year. Picnic is the meeting place for the most culturally relevant Russians and foreign musicians of today, owners of the best Moscow fashion shops, town’s trendies who want to know everything about the current state of music, fashion and contemporary arts and people who just want to have a good time playing badminton or simply lying on the grass. But the most important thing about Afisha Picnic is its special atmosphere — the atmosphere of another Moscow, a Moscow that does only exist once a year in Kolomenskoe.
For Lomography Embassy Russia the “Afisha Picnic” became the debut in Moscow. We haven’t carried out such large-scale lomography exhibitions in Moscow in recent years.
It has taken a month and a half for the exhibition to make it’s way to Moscow! No wonder if you consider that the lomowall had a dimension of about three meters in height and fifty meters in length. Parts of the wall were produced with the work of Russian lomographers, who participated in the «The sun never sets on Russia!» rumble.
Our lomowall was so popular, that we even had to stop people from stealing parts of it (some managed to do it anyway).
As a part of the Afisha Picnic the results of the “Trajectory of Lomography” contest has been summed up and an awarding ceremony has been conducted.
Lomography workshops were also held. Frankly, we didn’t even expect such a large number of visitors! Special thanks to: Julija Svetlova, Natasha Sharapova, Dasha Altabaeva, Denis Alexandrov and Vova Ivshen for interesting lectures.
Anyone could take a picture throughout the whole day with the lomowalls in the background. Our friend Ilya Davydenko (http://mistral-id.livejournal.com) documented portraits of the guests which can be found in this album: http://www.lookatme.ru/galleries/65505
It was good to meet our friends, to observe a steady stream of photographs in the background of lomography walls, to answer questions about lomography, to meet new people and to see great interest of the mass media.
Thank you!
As our friends say: “Afisha Picnic’ makes every year to be better – it was so this year, next year will be even more cool”. Let it be so!
