Howdy mates! Thanks for staying with us during the last months of testing and tweaking the site formerly known as beta! Now online for a few days we hope that you are enjoying the new face of Lomography!
Of course, no change this big will ever be easy. We deeply apologize to everyone who feel that they have been left without answers or forewarning to the change and feel that we need to emphasize once more what has happened, what is currently happening and give you guys a little preview of what is still to come!
What has happened
Simply put we have created a new website from scratch. We have designed some new Homes for you to store your Lomographic masterpieces, launched a new online Magazine (with more sections updates on analogue photography than you have ever seen before!) and a new section called Photos (where you can browse hundreds of thousands of photos taken by thousands of Lomographers from around the world!). While the bulk of functions from the old Lomography has been integrated some are still being worked on!
For a short while still – the old pages can still be accessed at old.lomography.com
What is happening
Based on your feedback we have set some priorities among ourselves:
Photos – We have currently started the process of migrating nearly 5(!) million photos from the old site over to the new. Over the next 2 weeks you will see a sharp rise in photos on the page, most of which will be loaded to your homes. We would like to ask you for a little bit more patience, as 5 million photos take some time to transfer!
A bit more information regarding this:
- The meta data will be migrated
- All albums will be transfered as they are on the old site, if they were public they will be public, if they are private they will remain private
- They will be migrated in the same size as they were uploaded.
Piggies – We are aware that it is not as ideal that you have to go to the shop to see how many Piggies you currently have. Rest assured this is a top priority from our team and something will be thought of.
Awards – They will not be lost. Soon you will have your badges shining on your new doorsteps!
Log in – Unfortunately a bug has made logging in a problem for some of you. We are working hard to find the right solution!
Cover page – We have received several suggestions as to how we can improve the layout of the front page. Soon, we will be testing different alternatives and try to figure out which combination works best.
What will soon be happening
In the extensive feedback that we have been given (THANKS!) we have seen that some things are extremely important to you. As soon as we have finalized the aforementioned issues we will begin to work on the following:
Lab – A more user friendly version will be launched in early summer.
Homes – In the near future you will be able to customize your homes in a similar manner to your old homes. With the new lab, new functions in the homes will roll out.
Email notifications – You will soon be getting an email notifying you of any activity that is happening in your homes.
Magazine sections – Much more will soon be happening in the magazine!
Localized version – You will soon be able to visit a totally interlinked version of this website in your own language!

Okay, when I upload new pix to my lab space, they do NOT show up in "unsorted." Rather they show up in my total stream but since they don't show up in unsorted, I cannot get them into albums. So far tech help hasn't been especially helpful. Cmon Lomo if you're going to use your site to try to sell us stuff at least get it working right. :(

Ok this is a new bug for me. Although it might not be because I hardly look at the "albums" page in peoples home. But I just went to r_i_b_u_l's home, clicked "albums" and tried to click the newest album. It just refreshed the albums page (or so I thought) but really it was taking me through the photos of that album, but in the thumbnail of that album from the same albums page. ok that doesn't make any sense, but i don't know how else to explain it??? I tried to go to ribuls home page again, and click photos, click a photo from that album, and then click the album link in the meta data and it took me back to the albums page and did the same thing.

Is there a way LSi can credit photographers or link to these photographs used in the articles? I would like to see who shot what photographs. For example one of my shots of a pumpkin house was up nearly a week on an article lucasjacobson wrote about suggestion we could make to help make LSI better. Does that seem like something LSI might like to do?

So if there were credit we could know more about the photograph. Also I we typed your name; lucasjakobsson, maybe there is a way to keysmart it so it turns into a button link?

I am very sorry to say this, but the old layout was much nicer, neat, gross, lomo-graphisch! The new one is OK, but it has lost its face ... looks like many other web sites around. Please try to get some goody-old-feeling back! Hopefully the migrations will turn well soon. ... and last but not least, the site is much slower loading than the old ones. Anyway lotta goody work you have done. Still an enthusiast Lomographer from Prague, Vojta ;o)

unfortunately for me there is still one big question unanswered: will we once have again the great, charming and the LOMOlike album wall view????? i miss this so. only to see a view of pics is boring, i want to see a wall!!! that WAS for me lomo.

yeah...would like to know where contest results are for end is beginning...and what the heck was up with the contest deadline...it was supposed to be 2 weeks and every time I went to check it the deadline had been moved ahead.

My photos have been moved Horray! But now I hav acouple of bugs that perhaps you could sort out.
1. My activity stream is now empty. Please return my nice comments from other lomographers
2.The albums on my main page are now out of sequence. i.e all the albums from my old home are showing as my latest albums. Can you change it back so the latest albums are shown first
3. The key images are not showing, just a seemingly random picture from each album. I think this is a problem that many others are experiencing and you may be aware of it. Sorry for repeating it again.
Love the new site. Easy to use and a nice interface. Sorry you guys are having a rough time of it in some of the comments. Some people just cannot abide change but I am sure they will all get used to it...eventually!

I just sent you guys an email over some piggy matters, and I found it kind of hard to figure out which email to use. The only two email addresses on the contact page were bugs (and it's not a bug) and the Lomography shop (I'm not buying anything). I went with the shop contact form, but I have no idea whether it was the right choice or not...
