We built a 44 meter long Lomowall!
On the 8th of April at the Ural State University (Russia) the “360 degrees of Lomography” exhibition was opened featuring a 44 meter long Lomowall! About 150 people came to the opening ceremony. About 150 people were shocked. 5000 shots from Lomographers all over the world. That this event was impressive surely is an understatement!
There were students, photographers, designers, people interested in art, deans, professors, TV and papers reporters and even pensioners (the last was a real breakthrough!) All of them were walking around and examining our wall. We had a music band playing and a screen rolling the BBC documentary about Lomography in the background. At all times there were splashes of cameras, people were chatting, l;laughing engaging in discussions and few even left the place once they had seen what was happening here! The hearty atmosphere of Lomography moved everyone and people truly felt themselves in the 44 meter long Lomowall!
Such a wall is no easy task, in fact it took over 24 hours and many more rolls of double sided tape to complete this project than we initially anticipated! Thankfully we had many volunteers, at times as many as 30 people were working on putting this amazing project together! In fact, students frequently came to us between classes and asked us: ”What are you doing here? Could we help you? What Lo-mo-gra-phy is?” Many of them became our friends and we had a great time!
This is not the final stop! We have some new crazy missions already planned and underway! Be sure to keep watching this space for more events!
