There would be no fun at Lomography if we could not share our photos with each other, get inspired and become eager to shoot more ourselves. So lets say that you are considering trying out a new film – and you want to find some good examples of what results this film can do. So you head on over to "photos":http://beta.lomography.com/photos and you type in the film that you are searching for only to find that the results are limited even though you know that people have uploaded this film to their homes.

The reason that you may not find what you are looking for may be that Lomographers have filled in different meta data for the same film, or worse, no meta data at all. Hence thousands of amazing Lomographs are hidden in people’s homes, nowhere to be found!
We ask for your help to make our dream a reality, being able to host the largest online directory of analogue photography in the world. How? By asking you to follow our simple guidelines when you fill in your meta information.
Tags
Please add some tags that describe you pictures. Some examples could include:
Color, objects (car, house, camera), type of place (restaurant, museum, dock), action (running, dancing, sleeping), photographic technique used (x-pro, doubles, push development)
Please use only small letters when you type in the tags (“green” instead of “Green”)
Cameras
Please enter the complete camera name & capitalize the first letter:
Lomography Diana F+, Lomography Fisheye NO. 2, Lomo LC-A, Kiev 4, Fed 5, Holga 120 CFN
Films
Please enter the film brand, type, ISO, format
Lomography CN (35mm, 400 iso), Fuji Velvia (120, 100 iso), Agfa Vista (35mm, 200 iso), Fuji Instax Mini (Instant, 800 iso)
Locations
Please fill in at least the country and city where the picture was taken, for example:
France/Paris
But if you can also a spot.
A spot is the actual place that you were, for example the Eiffel Tower. Your location should then look like France/Paris/Eiffel Tower. Please note that you should not enter things such as “restaurant,” “tower,” and “cathedral” here. These should go in tags. Continuing with the Paris example instead of “cathedral” it could be “Notre Dame” and hence France/ Paris/Notre Dame.
Please help us with this little task. It will help your photos show up on photos and make it easier for you to share your work with others. It will also be easier for you to find pictures taken by others. And as we know that you all like piggies, we will throw in 5 of these Lomography favorites for the 5 people that correct most of their most tags.

hey thanks for clearing this tagging business up, lsi...i have been wondering about the film tagging especially, because one film can be tagged so differently. :)
lomodirk
That should have been clear from the beginning...I`ll do my best from now on... ;)

I just browsed on photos to check if my pictures came up... and they didn`t! I have some photos uploaded on my home using the lomo BW 120 and correctly tagged (the film tag is Lomography B&W (120, 100ISO) and all the other meta is inserted) and when I searched on photos it didn`t appear... Can you guys check whats happening, please?

Ok, I try to correct everything. It's better to clear all about this, because it was very messy until now.

Thanks for the guideline! I will use some free hours to change my meta data where necessary.

Ok, I'm done... I think...

Done with my albums. Hope this effort pays.

okay ;)

Do we tag our albums or individual shots? Does it matter?

Wouldn't it be possible (and much simpler to accomplish) if all meta data wasn't case sensitive? I'm just thinking that a lot of people won't see these directions, forget them or just use the auto-complete function.

I can't fill in my meta data very well. On beta, every change and every upload crashes my browser, or a screen says "Something went wrong". Beta is still awfully beta.

Did anyone get a piggy-reward for this?
