Very first song you can remember falling in love with?
Please Don’t Go Girl – New Kids on the Block. Saved my allowance to buy the cassingle. I was definitely like 5.
First CD you ever owned?
Aerosmith, ‘Get a Grip.’ (yikes!)
Band you would most want to photograph?
How about first cassette?
Debbie Gibson, Electric Youth. (I refuse to be embarrassed by this.)
Best Album Art in the shop:
That’s so tough. We did just get the new Bjork vinyl reissues in, and I’m OBSESSED, so how about all of them?
One album you cant stop listening to right now?
Grampall Jookabox, “Ropechain.” It is unbelievable!
Favorite place in Indianapolis to bring your camera? Got a picture to prove it?
I used to take my Colorsplash EVERYWHERE. and I mean it. Then it was the Fisheye. I really like candid photos of normal everyday things…people stop paying attention to the magic of the mundane…Lomos totally bring that out.

Indie rock or Indy 500?
Although the Indy 500 has its highlights, (mullets, cut-off t-shirts, boobies,) its indie rock for me on this one.
Best live show you saw in the 08?
I really loved the Black Kids and Cut Copy at the Abbey in Chicago.
And we had an in-store performance with Robin Hitchcock that was incredible.
Show etiquette: Do you wear the t-shirt of the band you’re going to see to the show: yes or no?
NEVER NEVER NEVER! This qualifies you as “that guy.”
Favorite musical instrument?
Probably the cymbal. I wish I made that sound when someone hit me with a stick.
If music genres were a color which would they be?
Rock is tough because there are sooo many facets; how about hair metal can be acid-washed, death metal can be black, and indie rock can be whatever color is hip at the moment ;)
Guilty pleasure: the band you hate to love:
Hall & Oates. but I try not to feel guilty.
Favorite place to eat and/or drink in Indianapolis?
It would have to be Yats. The most phenomenal cajun/creole, under $7 a plate, and the owner, Joe Vuskovich, knows EVERYONE that walks thru the door. When I feel like dancing, the Casbah has phenomenal local djs on wednesday nights, but my fave place to belly up to the bar would have to be the Alley Cat in Broadripple, especially if Maurie is tending bar.
Jess’s Advice of the Day:
Put down your drink and DANCE!
