Let us know a little bit more about who you are and what your present life is made of…
I am 25, bearded, single. Raised in small town situated in eastern Slovakia (this reminds me the first theme from English language on high school leaving examination), central Europe. My university graduation is a museologist (and gallerist also) with probation from ecology. But what is making me better these days – that’s music. Drums are my passion, we recorded the promo with one technical metal/core project in august. I am creative also in my solo IDM/ambient project called Bikini Gibbon. What else? Pub philosopher? Vine lover?
And how do you wish your future to look like? Can you say that yours will be analogue and how?
Future? It doesn’t exist, its only infinite, neverending presence. But okay, I can tell you something from my angle of view. The music I get from drums is pure, I hit the cymbals etc., no data units, no binary code, no electricity. On the other way guitars works on electric base, so its cooperation of two sides of creating tones. Maybe analog photography and digital expressions can be symbiotic somehow, you know. But I feel analog more creative “in situ” and more fun.
When, how and why did you become a lomographer?
It was just last year when my friend Rolyc devoted me in to the magical world of lomo. He found smena 8 in his cupboard and discovered the website. It was an appeal so I have bought my first LCA (and colorsplash) and started to make those funny body movement and grimaces on the streets to get some nice pictures. And the funny thing is that only after a month some guy called a police on me that why i am taking the picture of his kid. It was a last field on the roll. So that why I became a lomographer: I loooove police. Muahh, haha
Do you remember the day you took your first shot? How old were you? Which camera did you use? How did you feel?
I think it was a Polaroid picture on the Christmas. Instant photography was in 80´s very popular (there was hard communism in Slovakia those days ladies and gentleman!). I think I must be so excited, imagine – kids versus pictures coming out from the cam, like a tongue from a beasts mouth. Wonder.

Those white and red framed street mirrors are often coming back in your shots? Addiction? Fascination? Or are Slovakian roads so dangerous that you have one of these mirrors at each and every crossroads?
I don’t know. I am fascinated about the mirrors since I was reading Moody’s books as a teenager. There should be a book called the history of mirrors in civilization right? All those psychic experiments with mirrors in antic world (they used it also as a sunlight’s canalizing gun), in aboriginal cultures, Lincolns visions, Huxleys three day sitting forward to mirror, artistic interpretations, healing possibilities, relationships of subconscious and mind.. Simply – they are mystic and we are surrounded by the mystic. Brain is especially a machine creating myths and similitudes. Maybe that’s why we are taking pictures, to create the film, the layer, the mirror of something.
Should there be only one left, which lomo camera would you keep? Why?
Hmmm. It should be LCA. And supersampler of course, aaaand holga 135bc. Errrr, what did you question??
I’ve seen you’re quite well-versed into pinhole photography. Is there one specific object in your life which you would love to transform into a pinhole camera? Why?
It could be my head (maybe this is the future! Haha, I will work on it and become an pincyborg) and of course it could be a stereo pinhole. :P
Have you ever been disappointed by a lomo camera? Or did you ever experience a looooong “taming” period with one of the lomographic cameras until you finally got the result you were expecting? Which one was it? And where was the frustration coming from?
First time using Smena 35 I was drunk and didn’t find the principle of rewinding mechanism, (you must push the trigger and rotate it..) that’s why the film disrupted. But my experience with lomos is not tragic. You know in last time I have just good feelings about it, most of my doubles with people came out nice and fields fell into line. And one more “lesson”, don’t go to the bath with your colorsplash flash, my friend electrician told me that it can create 300V. Is it truth?
What is your favourite lomo tip/trick or the technique you master the better? Show us an example!
I don’t know which one, i am still experimenting. But in last time I get nice results from the “horizontal doubles” shooting (wazzup max?). That means you cover the lower half of the lens on LCA with some paper material and on reshoot (on LCA+ you don’t need to) cover the second half. I used precisa slide and crossed it. Boooya.
