What was your first Lomographic experience?
I’ve developed many photographs when I was in college. But a lot of it got rejected and I needed to reshoot again & again. Until I started to work in some local agency, I totally stopped taking photos. One day, a close friend of mine named yunc (http://www.lomohomes.com/yunc) showed to me some of the Lomography gallery via the websites. And I got shocked by seeing all those photos are so beautiful! I asked, “What camera do they used?” And she answered me, “All of them were taken by Lomo cameras.” I was also confused what is Lomo and why some of the camera has many lenses, a pistol look alike camera-designed and colorful! Then, after a few days later, she had bought herself the Colorsplash camera. Followed by me, I had also bought myself the ActionSampler Flash because I was so curious to see what would happen to my film that taken with this so called “4 lenses’ camera”. And my Lomographic never ending stories started here, in the year of 2006. Without Lomo, there’s nothing in my life…
Who is your major influence in photography?
My photography lecturer, used to call him Eddie Sir, is the one who influenced me in photography. As I had described in the first question, he always rejected my photos! First question came into my mind was why the hell was he always rejecting my and some other classmates’ photos? 2nd thing, why was he always wasting our money to buy a new film & develop for more than a few times? But he had his reason why and he’s going to tell you what is incorrect & correct. And of course he also had his point to ask us to reshoot. Until the end of the semester, I got my “Ok” results in Photography subject! Thank you very much to him again.
Among all the cameras that you have, which one do you value the most?
Of course my LC-A camera! This camera always gives me a lot of magic shows. I do not know why I like to use this word “magic”. And it has already given many great surprises with much kind of films. One thing for sure, the aperture settings, distance settings and the minitar lens itself have gotten me to fall in love with it since the first time I started to use it.
What’s your favorite photography/Lomography trick?
Well, I’m not the one who always likes to play with some new idea with my cameras although I’m a designer. LOL! But I’ve tried with some tricks that I’ve seen on the Lomography website before, so called FishEye crossover with LC-A camera. This could be my favorite Lomography trick so far.
Someone wants your photo up on a billboard. Which one would it be?
This photo, I titled it as “Harmony”. Inside the photo, there’s a girl leaning against the wall with some supportive blurry paddy grasses in front of her. I personally tagged this as my favorite shot. Special thanks to her, rice00 (http://www.lomohomes.com/rice00) whereby she made this shot alive!
Any funny experiences while taking pictures?
This is a very good question! I’m 100% say YES! There’s a lot jumping around, posing like a Tarzan and also, the passengers took out their legs out of the window and snapping while we were in the journey for some LomoOuting. In Lomo perspective, making fun or a jokes are the most important point instead of just to take & share their photos. Come on, don’t be so bored!
A day in the life of reinertlee:
Drive, works, new jobs, rushing, meet the deadline, share some politics in office, meeting, clients, money, computer, checking mails, blogging, posting, forum, call friends for a supper, sweet time with my companionship, family day, chanting and sleep. I’m always looking forward to the next LomoOuting.
Name three things that inspire you.
Faith, Practice & Study!
What’s keeping you busy lately?
Nothing much is busy so far. Just keep on looking for some new clients/jobs. And keep uploading my new photos from the recent trip.
Recommend some good food!
Don’t forget to try out our famous multination food such as “Roti Canai” (Indian food), “Nasi Lemak” (Malay food) and “Bah Kut Teh” (Chinese food) if you’re coming to Malaysia. Cheers!
