As time begins to wind down on the Lomography/Russia! Magazine Soviet Bar Crawl photo challenge (deadline is July 25th!), it’s time to kick it into high gear and get those Soviet/Russian bar photos in!

Let’s do the math. You go out to a bar, have grade A Russian vodka, meet some cool people, take a few photos and send them to us. In exchange, we offer you the chance to win cameras and get published in Russia! Magazine. What exactly are you waiting for again?

Here’s a little help too. We’ve got a list of some cool bars that are just waiting to be captured by you and your analog camera.

Pravda Bar (Dublin)

Red Square (Las Vegas)

KREMLIN (Belfast)

Gagarin (GOA)

Anka (Costa Rica) — no site (De la Pops de Curridabat, + 506 234 9169)

Pravda (Santa-Domingo, Dominican Republic)

Eastern Bloc (New York City)

And there are many many more!

So click here for all the guidelines and how to submit.

And those of you who live in Russia or the former Soviet Union (as well as anyone else) can also participate through a very special Live Journal page dedicated to this competition. It will be active long after the July 25th deadline, but there are prizes at stake each month, so get over there and submit some photos!

In the spirit of friendliness, for those in London there is a Soviet bar on Kingsland Road (basically up from Shoreditch). Well, it isn't actually Soviet (obviously) it just has a load of kitschy junk on the walls.

I just saw a place in NYC called KGB (how awesome!). Apparently its plastered with old propaganda posters, posters of Lenin and they are a very literary crowd (hosting readings and open forums for writers).

i'd say collect as many bars now as possible. and then we will work something out! just drop me a line if there are any problems. and also it doesnt have to be a "russian" bar per se, it can be also a bar you feel is russian or feels russian. so get out there!

So I went to a Russian bar and a shot like crazy... 5 films and almost all the pictures suck so hard... ARGH!

It's gonna be hard to find 10 good ones. Thank God I took 35 polaroids!
