f295 Symposium Wrap-up

Like many people in the Lomography community, I used to think I was a big-time photo geek. Well, I recently went to the "f/295 symposium":http://www.f295.org/symposium2008/ in Pittsburgh, PA, and shared a weekend with some all-star photo geeks! For those of you who think every coffee can, matchbook, or shoe box would make a great camera, this is the place for you!

Like many people in the Lomography community, I used to think I was a big-time photo geek. Well, I recently went to the f/295 symposium in Pittsburgh, PA, and shared a weekend with some all-star photo geeks! For those of you who think every coffee can, matchbook, or shoe box would make a great camera, this is the place for you!

The f/295 symposium is all about alternative and adaptive processes to creating images, and a celebration of lens-less photography in all shapes and sizes (literally).

The workshops and lectures were a mind-altering experience for me, as I got to see some of the most interesting and inspiring image-capture techniques ever discovered.

Here is a little preview of one of the techniques I got to try at one of the workshops. This was shot with a Diana+ with a fisheye lens, directly inside the camera!

One of the highlights of the week was the Sunday walkabout in Pittsburgh, where the Diana+ was the star of the show. Half the group immediately took off the lens, and the other half experimented with lens photography!

Below is a gallery of some of the photos from the 5-day symposium. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be doing some more stories about the event, with profiles of the speakers, recaps of the techniques, and hopefully more galleries (when the participants send us their photos hint hint).

Enjoy!

OMG....as I was looking through these really cool pictures I was thinking "I wonder if they went to Primanti Bros.'....and BAM! I see the picture of the Primanti Bros. sign! I love the Strip in Pittsburgh...great photo ops there.

If my feeble memory isn't so feeble, isn't the building in #45 the Warhol Museum? THAT place is another great photo op....and a great way to spend a day.

Symposium looks fun....a great excuse to hit Primantis!
