Film laundering... a step by step guide.

When you are doing laundry, it's always best to separate colors... that is, unless you're accidentally washing your film in your pants pocket! Here is the tale of how "Keren Fedida":http://www.flickr.com/photos/yummiliondragon/sets/72157603493183389/ went to "Phagwa":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi 2008 with her Holga, and accidentally washed her film.

When you are doing laundry, it’s always best to separate colors… that is, unless you’re accidentally washing your film in your pants pocket! Here is the tale of how Keren Fedida went to Phagwa 2008 with her Holga, and accidentally washed her film.

Phagwa 2008, since it is a messy event I decided to take my holga with me… all that color powder and baby powder would have cost me in one bad digital SLR…. so I shot a roll and put it in my pants pocket and the rest is history….

So first thing I did was to put the roll of film in my pants untaped! Yes, i untaped the roll, but kept it kinda tight where i put it in my pocket, which has a zipper and kept the film nice and secure inside the pants.

Part II… laundry time!

Use powder detergent. put in dryer for an hour. make sure the clothes are really dry too. you know.. wet clothes… not good. Then when you look at the roll don’t panic. its kinda warped. yes. but it will be ok.

Don’t open the roll! make sure the lab guy develops it anyway if it looks bad.

The film was fujichrome 100 and i used an off camera flash with a synch chord.
