Often times, I find myself more comfortable shooting alone, because I can focus more on my shots and I can go unnoticed by people. Also, some places are more beautiful if you shoot it alone, especially temples because you have to be silent; you need to find peace to capture the feel of the place in your photos.

I am currently in the Philippines for my summer holiday and took time to visit my mom's hometown, General Santos City (affectionately called "GenSan" by the locals). To me it seems that Mindanao is unchartered territory - even for many Filipinos - who fear what they read/hear on the news. But for me, Mindanao is home away from home. Since I started visiting GenSan in high school, I quickly learned that there is no reason to be afraid or wary of my surroundings. I simply had to sit back and absorb all its beauty.

When you think of getting some tan and spending time under the sun, the first thing that comes to your mind is the BEACH. The taste of sea water, the waves of the ocean, sand under your feet...why not make waterfalls your alternative choice as a favorite spot to get some sun?

Favorite place to get some sun? I can't think of anything other than the beach and swimming of course. Imagine this...swimming while feeding many dolphins around you. This is what we experienced in Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP), Philippines. If you love Flipper, then you'll fall in love with this place as well.

Maria Cristina falls is the crowning glory of the country's City of Majestic Waterfalls - Iligan City. It is sometimes called as the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfalls. I was lucky to be able to shoot the falls with it's water at full force.....

An hour’s drive from the City proper of Davao lies the Philippine Eagle Conservation Center. It has been successfully breeding the endemic Philippine Eagle for more than 10 years. Locally known as “Haribon” (eagle king). It is the largest eagle in the world with an impressive wingspan of 2 meters. Aside from its size, the Philippine Eagle has brown tufts on it’s head which resembles a lions mane which gives the bird of pray its regal appearance similar to common depictions of the mythological griffin.

Every August 28th, the whole province of Cagayan de Oro gets transformed into an entirely new entity of color, merriment and wonder as they celebrate their yearly festival. Floats, parades, dances and concerts are aplenty as they celebrate and give thanks to another fruitful year. This is a week long event so there is no reason to miss a one of a kind Lomographic photo opportunity. The locals are accommodating and gamely smile for the camera, proud of their heritage as Cagayanos. Getting there is a 1 ½ hour flight from Manila with rates depending on the airline. Accommodations are readily available but book in advance if you're going to the festival since many people go there.

Yes it has three Os. The extra letter O is for the overall, outstanding mark that I give them. The food is affordable, the taste is superb and the Mexican ambiance is really cozy and great. Mooon Cafe is a restaurant where you can order and not worry about the prices and taste, definitely worth the money you paid.
