Every summer since 2001, the "Night of Industrial Culture" happens as part of the event, "extra shift". Throughout the German Ruhr industrial sites, dumps and former coal mines are turned into major cultural venues and transformed by artists with light installations, live music, and dance performances. This year I loaded my Lubitel 166 + and checked it out.

With 600,000 inhabitants, Dortmund is one of the biggest cities in Germany (even if it's relatively unknown in most parts of the world). But if you visit the "Westfalenpark" you wouldn't guess that you are in the heart of a major city. The big green space is a perfect spot for relaxation and a photo tour all year long.

The Externsteine are a distinctive rock formation located in the Teutoburger Wald region of northwestern Germany, not far from the city of Detmold at Horn-Bad Meinberg. The formation consists of several tall, narrow columns of rock which rise abruptly from the surrounding wooded hills. The name probably means "stones of the Egge".

The east side of the famous Berlin Wall became an open air gallery. The paintings are a tribute to peace and freedom. It's also the largest section of the Berlin Wall that remains. It's a must see, a landmark and my favourite place in the city of Berlin! You won't want to miss it!

There's this little place that draws me in every time I go out of the house. Everybody in Bielefeld knows it: the "Siggi". It's a good place for everybody to hang around, meet friends, have a drink, and even discover a great analogue find!

In search of abandoned buildings for a Lomo session, I came across the Schöning Villa in nearby Vlotho. During my research on this mansion I have, in addition to the history of the villa, also came across another name - "House of Pain". On a sunny Sunday, Evalina and I made our way to explore the "horror" villa.

Calling the Tippelsberg in Bochum a "mountain“ is a bit of an exaggeration – but even with a height of only 150 meters, it still offers a great view over the Ruhr area. Follow me as I visit one of Germany's oldest tourist attractions.

Planning to spend some time in Dortmund ? The former "Steel City" is now a good place for shopping and culture. Dortmund has a lot to offer...much more than a hot cup of Starbucks coffee.

The Rheinpark in Duisburg is a quite new created park near the Rhein. Its opening was in May this year with a big party and a lot of good music. It’s positioned between the two quarters Hochfeld and Wanheimerort. There are already a lot of reasons to go there but the park isn't finished yet. There are plans to double the size of the park.

Welcome to Münster, which is known as the city of bikes. I went to the harbour with a friend and was thrilled! There were plenty of interesting characters and exhilarating scenes for you to enjoy with your Lomographic cameras.

In the past the coke plant Zollverein was one of the modern coke plants, today the place invites you to marvel and to stay. The coke plant was built in 1957 in connection to the Coal Mine Zollverein.

With the help of my Lubitel, I have discovered the sprawling nature of the Hiller Torfmoor (peat bog).

I do have a certain "test area" for all my new cameras, Phoenix West, which is a former steel factory. But there is far more to this area than the ruins, rust, and nostalgia. Dortmund is a worker city with quite some tradition. It has been the beer capital and has also been a big site for heavy industries. But time passed by, many breweries and steel works had to close down as parts of the companies got sold to the far east. At least you can still visit some places reflecting the city's former glory.

Bochum Total is one of the biggest music festivals in Europe – and it's completely free of charge!

The Rheinpark in Duisburg is a quite new created park near the Rhein. Its opening was in May this year with a big party and a lot of good music. It’s positioned between the two quarters Hochfeld and Wanheimerort. And it's not finished yet. The size will just be doubled.

In the past, many people worked hard at the metallurgical plant that was built in this place. Today you can spend many days here doing fun activities or just relaxing. Let me show you a glimpse of what's in store at the North Duisburg Landscape Park.

Holga, Diana, SX 70 and Horizon entering Hollywood. If you want to make pics like in the glorious old times of Hollywood-Movies... you could do it without spending a lot of time and money. In Warner Brothers Movie parks you'll find back stages, facades and streets where you could imagine that gangsters, Bonny&Clyde or John Wayne have passed. And if you don't go there on holidays or on Sunday, take your time, until people have left the place you want to make your pic - you can make photos like in the 60s or 70s there. And if you take a portrait-film, and the good old SX 70 for your Polaroid-camera, you'll get the sweet colors which fit perfectly to your motives.

The Hawerkamp in Münster is a meetingpoint for musicians and other artists. Not only once a year does the Vainstream Rockfestival take place there, but also a lot of small concerts in locations such as Sputnikhalle, the Triptychon or the Fusion Club, which can also be found there as well.

A wonderful spot right on the Wiehengebirge. Although one could also think that they were vacationing somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

My favorite patch of greenery is a forest called the "Wildwald Vosswinkel". It's a big, private forest that is great for having a wonderful day away from the city, which also means, away from traffic.
