  • Marseille's Seaside

    Marseille's Seaside
I'm more a mountain boy than a seaside guy, I mean I like chilling on the beach, but I get bored after a few hours (not to say minutes)... But this seaside is different... First of all, apart for the artificial people-filled sand beaches near the town center, you will hardly find some sand around Marseilles but only limestone carved and sometimes even polished by the sea and the wind. And that's what makes it great to my eyes, the wildness of this rocky landscape diving directly into the green-blue sea, of the mistral wind which is quite always blowing in this place, and of the wave breaking on the rocks.

  • Island of If

    Island of If
One of the best known islands in the whole world - the island of If. I could not find the story about the island, why is it called like that - If. But one thing I know for sure is that this island is famous because of the Count of Monte Cristo. As you can remember the story of Alexandre Dumas, this Count was jailed there and the whole story is about how he tries to escape from this small island, where only the building of jail is located. I do not remember the exact amount of time, but I guess that he escaped only after several years (maybe 7 or 13) by digging the whole in the wall with the spoon.

  • Fish-market of Marseille

    Fish-market of Marseille
40% of the fishes eaten by the French are farm fishes. When you'll go to Marseille, don't miss the traditional fish market that stands everyday on the Old Port (Le Vieux Port), on Belgian platform (Quai des Belges). The old fish-market (La Criée) has become the National Theater of the town. So, every morning, the fish-market takes place. The fishermen sell their fish on their own. They wake up very early, take fish (or not) from their nets, and go back to the harbor. Fresh, fresh fish! "Il est frais, il est frais mon poisson!" shouts the fishmonger.
