Not cut out for camping at Bonnaroo? Try Chicago's own Lollapalooza if you are more of a city slicker than a mud dweller.

In the shadow of the L train on South Wabash Avenue in the famous "Loop" stands an old school camera shop that has been there since 1899.

It seemed like a good morning for a walk on the long uninterrupted waterfront here in windy Chicago. The cold spray was unanticipated, but the feeling that we came away with after sharing the moving, wet expanse was definitely worth it.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Bean.
Bean who?
Bean awhile since my last post.

We arrived at Navy Pier as it was getting dark. I had just loaded my LC-A+ with Fuji T64, what was I thinking?

In the heart of Chicago's North Shore, right on Lake Michigan, sits America's true Urban Suburb. It is also well know to be the home of Northwestern Univeristy. Renowned filmmaker, the late John Hughes filmed all of his movies in the North Shore suburbs.

Home of the skyscraper, ferris wheel and shredded wheat, this city has some of the most amazing, mouth dropping architecture in the world. It also has some of the most unpredictable weather to go with it.

I've been working at the Empty Bottle as a freelance sound tech for a few years now. Working there has been wonderful and I've had the opportunity to take a whole bunch of pictures. Enjoy!

The first of 3 major art museums on a single trip - I was eager to see American Gothic and all kinds of impressionist treasures.

By now you know my story: July 2009, 8000 km road trip, 3 generations, 1 van. Crazy? Yes. Lomographically limited? In no way whatsoever! I took along 10 cameras and 40 rolls of film. We passed through 10 American states and 3 Canadian provinces, and did I already mention how much walking we did in Chicago?

One of the things I miss most about Chicago is the awesome public transportation, and the "L" can really get you anywhere you need to go. It is the equivalent to a subway system, except it is above ground for most of the tracks. It's the best way to go on an adventure, and also the best way to get lost! This is a good thing.

Coming from Australia, the chance to drive to places in the States, like Chicago, still seems weird to me. I challenged myself by only taking film cameras on the trip and was shattered when I received back all the black-and-white rolls from my Holga, which in one view had been ruined by the lab. I now think that the dust spots, scratches, and chemical marks all add to the photos' charm making them look even more vintage.

I took the fastest elevator I'd ever been on, with my father-in-law and son, only to "meet" David Schwimmer on the 94th floor...

I recently went to the abandoned Brach's Candy Factory, 401 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago, IL. At the time of its closing in 2004, it was the largest candy factory in the world. Although it has only been three years since it closed, its interior condition has quickly deteriorated. The factory is easy to get into the plant via a noticeable break in the fence and is located on Chicago's West Side near the intersection of N. Cicero Ave. and W. Lake Street. You can use Chicago's rapid transit system by taking the Green Line: Lake, getting off at the Cicero station. The station is on the northeast corner of Lake and Cicero and the candy factory is off to the left of the station. You may find homeless people in some of the rooms of the factory. We did, but they just said hello as we walked by.

I had never stepped foot in Chicago until June 2006. I lived and worked there for four months. It was love at first sight. From the moment I stepped off the plane the people, the architecture, the lake, the views, the history enchanted me. It was pure unadulterated magic. I lived in Wrigleyville but a girl needs her space from time to time and the best place for me to be alone was the busiest place in Chicago: Downtown. Bustling streets filled with people and noise was the perfect place for me to lose myself.

I was at a conference for a few days near the O'Hare airport. Like a lot of large cities, Chicago's airport is quite a trip from downtown Chicago, and thrifty travelers know the best way from O'Hare to downtown is on the Blue Line.

I don't really remember the exact moment in time that I became a Cubs fan. I think it was when I was in middle school in my hometown in Utah. I would come home from school, turn on the television looking for something to watch. Cable television was a bit of a rarity at this time, so there was a lot to choose from.

A curious town that at the time of my exploration, felt like a movie set with barely any hustle and bustle. I felt like I was the star of the show just waiting for the extras to come out any minute. Hmmm… is this the Truman Show?

For the past two years my boyfriend and I have flown from Central Point, Oregon to Chicago, Illinois in order to attend the 3-day long festival known as Lollapalooza. Besides getting to see many of our favorite bands (NIN, Radiohead, & Pearl Jam to name a few) we were able to experience the very exciting and very green city of Chicago.

In April, I visited Chicago with my friend Tyler to see the Arcade Fire concert and catch a Cubs game. I took along my Holga 135 for good measure, and got a few pictures that will help me remember the trip. I forgot my flash (I use a Diana flash with adapter), but wasn't disappointed with the results.
