  • Mustallik - Independance Square Tashkent

    Mustallik - Independance Square Tashkent
The biggest square in Toshkent is he independence square. With the change of Politics it changed it face and its significance over the decades and serves as a good example for the east in general. First it was the Cathedral Square fort he Orthodox Church, as the Russian Empire conquered the region.
  • Tashkent

    Tashkent
Uzbekistan is mainly known, for its ancient cities on the old silk road such as Bukhara and Samarkand. Despite the beauty of these towns Tashkent became the capital of the Uzbek SSR in 1930. The great history of Tashkent is not really visible. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that Ghengis Khan in 1219 and the Russians in 1865 destroyed it big time. Still, there remained some major and the only well preserved mosques of the areas.

    Eternal Flame
The biggest attraction on the Independence Square of Toshkent is in my view the eternal flame at just opposite to the Turkistan-palace at the right corner of the square. I don't really know about the west, but eternal flames had been a big hit and a necessity in most of the Eastern-European capitals.
